Meghan Markle has received her first royal seal

Former England rugby star Mike Tindall has given Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle her first Royal seal of ­approval.

Mike, who is married to Zara Phillips, has said he's confident that the American TV star will be 'absolutely fine' with the public scrutiny that comes with joining the family.

The 2003 World Cup-winner is the first member of the family to publicly comment on Harry's year-long relationship with 36-year-old Meghan.

he 38-year-old said the couple's happiness was the most important thing.  

'It comes with a lot of history and the family that it is. It’s obviously nerve-racking.

'But she has been under enough scrutiny and pressure in her day-to-day life so I’m sure she will get through it. She will be fine.

'As long as they are both happy that’s all that you can ask for. She’ll do absolutely fine.

'We haven't met yet. It will be nice to meet her.' 

Mike and Zara, 36, are set to meet Meghan in the coming months.

Harry, 32, is said to be particularly close to his cousin and fellow royal rebel Zara, a horse-rider who shocked the family with a tongue piercing.

Speaking at the 2017 Farmfoods British Par 3 golf championship in Warwickshire, Mike claimed to love Meghan’s hit legal drama Suits, in which she plays lawyer Michael Ross's love interest, Rachel Zane.

'I’m obviously a big Suits fan.

'It’s a very good show. I will definitely try and get the inside scoop on it.'
