Laura Singh, the Auckland mother who went missing earlier this week, triggering a extensive police search and a heartfelt plea from her family, has been found alive.

Ms Singh, 34, was last seen leaving her home in Greenlane at around 8pm on Monday.

Police said she had been found this morning in Wellsford, north of Auckland, and were taking her to Auckland for medical assistance. Officers thanked all who assisted in the search.

Earlier today, police investigated several sightings of Ms Singh and her car - a metallic blue 2007 Hyundai Tuscon.

Yesterday, her family made a public appeal for information, saying her disappearance was totally out of character.

Her sister, Angela Kneeshaw. had said it was "highly unusual" for her to be out of contact with friends and family.

"Our family love her and we need her home," Ms Kneeshaw said. "She is a loving and caring mum of three young children, a daughter and a sister and we miss her dearly."

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Newman said yesterday initial inquiries with family and friends had not revealed any clues to Ms Singh's whereabouts or her intentions on Monday night.

"There is nothing we have observed thus far that suggests any foul play at Laura's home.

Ms Singh's bank accounts had not been accessed and police were not aware that anything is missing from her home.
