Model Tatjana Patitz who starred in George Michael's 'Freedom! ’90' video has passed away

One of the world's leading supermodels of the 1980s and 1990s, Tatjana Patitz, has passed away.

According to her agent Corinne Nicolas Patitz died of breast cancer. She was 56.

The Hamburg-born beauty famously starred alongside fellow original "supermodels" Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Cindy Crawford on the cover of British Vogue in 1990.

The cover has become one of the most legendary fashion photos of all time, with Patitz also making the cover of US Vogue later in the same month.

Patitz also starred in the iconic George Michael music video for 'Freedom! ’90', with the same group of models.

She was also a cover model for Harper's Bazaar and Marie Claire and modelled for Versace and Chanel.

As well as George Micheal's 'Freedom! ’90', Patitz also appeared in the video for Duran Duran's 'Skin Trade.'

In 1993 she went on to star alongside Sean Connery in the film Rising Sun.

The model previously dated singer Seal and former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan. She was married to Jason Johnson from 2003 to 2009.

She is survived by her son Jonah Johnson.
