The first trailer for Netflix's WHAM! documentary is finally here.

The streaming service dropped the first official trailer overnight for the documentary, including never-before-seen archival footage, photos and unheard interviews of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley’s journey from school friends to superstars.

“We met when I was 11 and Andrew was 12,” a young George says in archival footage in the trailer. An older Andrew adds, “And there was only ever one thing that I wanted to do — be in a band with George.”

The admiration was mutual, the “Careless Whisper” singer admits, saying that “Andrew changed my life in exactly the way someone needed to change my life if I was gonna be a pop star.”

The documentary covers the band's whirlwind four-year career before George went solo, but it appears to show George's struggle with his need to be taken seriously as a musician and to remain closeted as a gay man during the 1980s.

Speaking to Rolling Stone ahead of the documentary's release next month, Andrew said "The documentary is a genuinely authentic representation of Wham!'s ascent to worldwide success and a place in the hearts of many. And I have no doubt that George would recognize [it] as being as close to our experience of that wonderful chapter in our lives, as any account might be."

He also praised the film's director, Chris Smith, saying "He has come as close as anyone might to making tangible that which is the essence of Wham! and has done so with veracity and affection."

Wham! will arrive on Netflix on July 5. Watch the trailer above.
