Dame Olivia Newton-John's only daughter has revealed the final words her mother said to her before she died of breast cancer.

Speaking to the American breakfast show Today about how she's coping with life without the actress, Chloe Lattanzi - whom Newton-John shared with her first husband Matt Lattanzi - reflected on her last moments with her mum.

"I love my mum more than anything, and she's my mum, she's not Olivia Newton-John to me," the 37-year-old said to host Hoda Kotb. "But I’m so glad that she was Olivia Newton-John to so many people."

She continued: "[The] last words she could say to me were 'my sunshine,' and right before she lost her ability to speak she was making jokes."

The TV interview was her first since Newton-John's death in August.

The Grease star died of breast cancer on August 8 surrounded by family and friends at her ranch in Southern California. She was 73.

Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992.

It went into remission but reappeared in 2013 and then again in 2017.

The 'Physical' hitmaker is also survived by her husband, John Easterling.
