Music icon Phil Collins has issued a cease and desist letter to American president Donald Trump after his song "In The Air Tonight" was played at a campaign rally in Iowa.

The 1981 hit song was played to an audience of hundreds as the President landed in his Air force 1 plane late last week.

After word got out on social media, representatives of Collins' told Consiquence of Sound that they have sought legal advice.

“Yes we are well aware of the Trump campaign’s use of this song and we have already issued a ‘cease and desist’ letter via our lawyers who continue to monitor the situation,"

Phil Collins joins the ever-growing list of stars who have stopped Donald Trump from using their music, with Elton John, Neil Young, The Village People and more doing the same.
