Phil Collins has made a rare public appearance in London, months after speaking openly about his health issues.

The Genesis drummer and solo artist attended a 50th anniversary event for King Charles III’s charity, The King’s Trust, held at Buckingham Palace. Collins has supported the organisation for decades, becoming its first ambassador around 40 years ago and previously serving as a trustee.

He was joined at the event by his ex-wife Jill Collins, who shared a photo from the night featuring the pair alongside Rod Stewart and his wife, Penny Lancaster. Despite heavy rain, Jill said the evening was a proud and memorable occasion, and the couple were honoured to spend some time with King Charles, who was pleased to see Collins.

Jill also revealed the pair are organising a charity auction in November to support The King’s Trust. The auction will include hundreds of items from their personal archives, along with a T-shirt designed by Collins, with proceeds going to the charity.

Earlier this year, ahead of his 75th birthday, Collins spoke in a BBC podcast about his ongoing health challenges. He said he now has a live-in nurse providing 24-hour care and has dealt with several medical issues, including complications during a hospital stay where he contracted COVID-19 and experienced kidney problems.

Collins also shared that he has undergone five knee surgeries and currently has one functioning knee. While he can still walk, he requires assistance such as crutches.

Despite these challenges, Collins continues to stay connected to causes he has supported for decades.
