Prince George and Princess Charlotte are set to miss a major royal milestone this week

The Cambridges have been keeping very busy in lockdown, despite many royal events being cancelled as a result of the global pandemic.

But, unfortunately, royal fans will miss out on seeing Prince George and Princess Charlotte make their debut at the Queen's favourite royal event this year.

While the Trooping the Colour parade - which is held for the Queen's second birthday - will still go ahead this weekend, the event will be scaled back and adapted to adhere to the British government's guidelines on social distancing.

Every year, crowds gather along The Mall and all the way up to Buckingham Palace to watch the royals pass by in carriages as part of their procession, before they later appear on the balcony to watch the fly-past.

It was reported that Prince George and Princess Charlotte were set to appear in their first ever carriage procession now that they're six and five-years-old.

However, instead, this year the event will this year be held at Windsor Castle, where the Queen is currently isolating, and it is extremely unlikely the young royals will attend.

Confirmed: The Queen will take part in a much reduced parade for her official birthday on Saturday.

Prince William was weeks away from his 5th birthday when he made his royal carriage debut in 1987, alongside Princess Diana and Prince Charles, and the Queen Mother.

Similarly, Prince Harry was almost five when he was first part of the procession in 1989.

Hopefully George and Charlotte will make their carriage debut next year!
