Making a surprise appearance at Royal Carols: Together at Christmas, Prince George and Princess Charlotte stole the show when they stepped out with their parents.

Charlotte emulated her mother, wearing coordinated festive maroon coats.

The Princess of Wales wore an elegant calf-length jacket with structured shoulders and matching red pumps, her hair in loose waves over one shoulder.

While Charlotte, who was hand-in-hand with her father, wore a double-breasted knee-length coat in the same colour, black tights, and Mary Jane flats, with her hair partially braided.

Prince William and Prince George also coordinated in black coats and navy trousers, though they opted for different coloured ties.

Prince Louis remained at home.

Royal Carols: Together at Christmas saw 1,800 people invited to Westminster Abbey in recognition of their efforts to help and care for others in their communities.

"The carol service is dedicated to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and to all those who are sadly no longer with us," a message in the program said.

"Her Late Majesty’s strongly held values of duty, compassion and faith have guided the creation of this service."

William, Kate, George and Charlotte were joined at the event by other family members including the King and Queen Consort, Zara and Mike Tindall as well as Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and their husbands.

The pre-taped concert will be televised in the UK on Christmas Eve.
