Prince Harry has opened up about his move to California and "stepping back" from royal duties in an interview with late-night talk show host James Corden.

During a segment on The Late, Late Show with James Corden that aired early Friday, Harry said he decided to step back from his work as a front-line member of the royal family to protect his wife and son – and his mental health.

“It was stepping back rather than stepping down,” he told Corden.

"It was a really difficult environment, which I think a lot of people saw, so I did what any father or husband would do and thought, ‘How do I get my family out of here?’

But we never walked away, and as far as I’m concerned, whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away.”

Harry stressed his thoughts on the British press, and what he thinks of the media. Many viewers have also come to the defence of Harry on social media platforms.

The interview also contained plenty of hilarious pieces from Corden and Harry, including a conversation on what baby Archie received from his grandmother for Christmas.

"She asked what Archie wanted for Christmas and Meg said a waffle maker, so she sent us a waffle maker! So for breakfast now Meg makes up a beautiful organic mix..."

Corden and Prince Harry also took a trip to the infamous house where The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was filmed, so he could be 'a prince, in the house of the Fresh Prince'.

Rather embarrassingly, Harry did have to ask the owners to use the bathroom!
