Paul Burrell, Princess Diana's ex-butler, has warned Meghan Markle about the dangers of not conforming to the royal family's traditions.

He has compared Meghan's actions to those of the late Prince Diana that he previously served.

The 60-year-old explained to Channel 5 in the UK that Meghan must "conform and do as she's told" or she will risk a clash with the senior members of the royal family.

He then went on to compliment Meghan on being a "strong and independent woman" but warned about the difficulties of joining the "most traditional family in the country".

These admissions came from the documentary 'Kate V Meghan: Princesses at War' in which Burrell is one of the royal information sources.

He explained: "Meghan has been catapulted into the most traditional family in our country, the royal family. How is she going to cope with this? Unlike Princess Diana who was reared in a house as big as Buckingham Palace, she was even lost."

He continued: "Buckingham Palace is a minefield for any person going in there for a first time. People set traps. They weren't very kind to this young girl coming into this world.

"Who would want to be part of that family?" he asked.

Burrell did leave Meghan with some lasting advice, he urged the Duchess to try and get to know the Queen because it is her opinion that matters the most in the palace.
