Queen Elizabeth II often treats her fans to portraits of the royal family, but she still saves some pictures for her eyes only.

While meeting with Defence Services Secretary Rear Admiral James Macleod as well as Major General Eldon Millar, the 95-year-old monarch was photographed inside Windsor Castle.

And, of course, eagle-eyed fans couldn't help but notice a very sweet selection of family snaps displayed on a table behind her – including one thought to be previously unseen.

If you look past Her Majesty, you’ll notice the never-before-seen family photo featuring the Queen posing with eight of her great-grandchildren.

In the portrait, the monarch is sitting front and centre on a couch holding Zara and Mike Tindall's 10-month-old son Lucas, with his two sisters on either side of them, Mia and Lena, who sweetly holds her little brother's hand.

Also beside them is Prince Louis.

Meanwhile, standing behind the sofa is her granddaughter, Lady Louise Windsor, alongside her great-grandchildren Prince George, Isla Phillips, Princess Charlotte and Savannah Phillips.

Missing from the snap are the Queen's other great-grandchildren; Archie, Lilibet, August Brooksbank and Sienna Mapelli Mozzi.

The new photo is believed to have been taken at Balmoral in Scotland over the UK summer.
