Queen Elizabeth II remembered on the 4th anniversary of her passing

Today marks four years since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, one of the most significant figures of the modern era.

The British monarch died on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96 after serving on the throne for more than seven decades. During her reign, Queen Elizabeth II witnessed enormous changes around the world and became a familiar presence for generations across the Commonwealth. Her commitment to public duty earned respect both in the United Kingdom and internationally. Queen Elizabeth II raised four children, and had many grandchildren and great grandchildren - with Prince George now starting at the school his father, Prince William, attended.

New Zealand shared a long connection with the late Queen, who visited the country several times throughout her reign and remained Head of State until her death. Following her passing, King Charles III immediately succeeded to the throne.  Four years later, many people continue to reflect on her legacy of service, stability and dedication.
