Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly set to give up driving on public roads following her husband, Prince Philip's crash two months ago.

The Queen is allowed to drive without a licence as part of the 'royal prerogative', because licences are issued under her name. But in a turn of events the Queen looks to have given up that privilege on advice from her security team.

The Queen would always be driven to public engagements, following royal protocol, but would often drive herself around her private estates and to private appointments.

It turns out The Queen is a fan of cars and boasts an impressive car collection. It is estimated to be worth upwards of 18 million New Zealand dollars, with the royal favouring up-market brands like Land Rover, Range Rover, Bentley and Jaguar.

The Queen has never had to take a driving test and is also allowed to drive without a number plate as part of the discretionary powers she has as monarch.

Princess Elizabeth, as she was then, actually trained as a driver and mechanic for the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service during World War 2
