A Mount Roskill man accused of murdering a woman in Remuera yesterday has been granted name suppression.

The 24-year-old appeared this morning in the Auckland District Court charged with one count of murder. Police said earlier this morning they were yet to formally identify the woman, though her name appeared on court documents this morning.

Her name has also been suppressed until 4pm today.

The accused was remanded in custody until his next appearance in the High Court at Auckland. His name suppression will be revisited then.

He appeared wearing a blue boiler suit.

Judge Claire Ryan ordered a number of reports including a psychiatric evaluation.
