As King Charles III is formally crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6, Rod Stewart's wife will be working at the historic event as a Special Constable.

Speaking to The Mirror, the legendary rocker revealed Penny Lancaster - who was inspired to join the police after she had a taste of life on the beat through a reality TV series she took part in - will be on duty for the City of London Police.

The 78-year-old said: "I think I have worn out my royal welcome. I think I will leave it to someone else. I will be in Las Vegas.

"But my wife will be on duty as a policewoman though."
