If you're a fan of Netflix’s swoon-worthy series Virgin River we've got some exciting news for you ...

It won't be long until the fourth season hits our screens!

After season three's major cliffhanger, fans have been desperate for the romantic drama – based on the best-selling book series by Robyn Carter - to be released.

And now it has been announced the next chapter in the small-town drama series will arrive on Wednesday 20 July with 12 hour-long episodes.

As for what we can expect in season four, the show's synopsis states: "Despite not knowing whether her baby belongs to her deceased husband, Mark, or Jack, Mel begins Season 4 with a sense of optimism. For years she yearned to be a mother and her dream is one step closer to reality.

"While Jack is supportive and excited, the question of paternity continues to gnaw at him. Complicating matters is the arrival of a handsome new doctor, who’s in the market to start a family of his own."

There's also some good-ish news on the Hope front. As you may remember, Season three ended with Doc's soulmate on death's door after a car accident. While we’re happy to report that she survived, "the lingering psychological effects of her brain injury will have profound consequences for both her and Doc."

Meanwhile, Brie is "intent on proving the innocence of the man she loves," yet "unexpectedly finds herself in a closer relationship with Mike and one step closer to Calvin’s violent criminal web."

As for Preacher, even as he "forges a new romantic connection, he can’t help but hold out hope for being reunited with Christopher and Paige."

Virgin River follows nurse practitioner Melinda who moves from LA to the small town of Virgin River to escape her painful past.

There she meets the charming Jack Sheridan (played by New Zealand's own heartthrob Martin Henderson), the owner of the local bar, and a former Marine.

However, Mel’s transition to small-town living doesn’t go as smoothly as she expected and it’s not long until drama - and romance - ensues.

Virgin River also stars Vampire Diaries actor Daniel Gillies - who also happens to be a Kiwi - Smallville star Annette O’Toole and The West Wing's Tim Matheson.

The first, second and third seasons of Virgin River are available to stream on Netflix now and we can't wait for the fourth season's release!
