Updated 1.02pm: Manchester City's jumped at the opportunity to close the gap on leaders Chelsea in the English Premier League.

City's hammered Newcastle 5-nil at the Etihad Stadium and now sit just five points behind the blues on the leader.

City forward Edin Dzeko says they're starting to mount some pressure.

"The people think 5 points is a lot. Maybe it is but if we play like we did today we can definitely catch them."

Chelsea's conceded a late goal to be held to a 1-all draw against Burnley.

The league leaders have let in an 81st minute goal to miss the opportunity to fully extend their advantage at the top.

In other results, Manchester United's been stunned 2-1 away by Swansea City, Arsenal's jumped above them into third with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, Stoke City's downed Aston Villa 2-1, Hull's beaten QPR 2-1 and Sunderland and West Brom have drawn 1-all.

Meanwhile British police have launched a further investigation into alleged racist activity involving Chelsea football fans.

Following on from the ugly incident in Paris, it's now alleged there's a second incident at London's Saint Pancras station the following night.

Three fans have been suspended from attending Stamford Bridge in the wake of the Paris incident.
