Surge sees Phoenix top table

A final-quarter surge has seen the Wellington Phoenix stun Adelaide United 2-nil in their A-League match in Lower Hutt.

Both teams failed to find the back of the net through the majority of the match, and it wasn't until a strike from new Phoenix signing Joel Griffiths to put the team 1-nil ahead.

Striker Nathan Burns successfully converted a free kick just three minutes after, to double the Phoenix's lead.

The win puts the Phoenix momentarily at the top of the A-League ladder.
