He's the lovable host of The Chase, who's best known for his cheekiness, but Bradley Walsh has recently opened up about the serious ultimatum he was given by doctors.

Speaking to The Sun, the 61-year-old revealed he was told he needed to lose weight or he would die as he was at high risk of developing heart problems after his dad died of heart disease at the age of 59.

"I had it in the back of my mind that I just had to get past my dad's age. So turning 60 was a bit of milestone," he said.

He went on to admit he cut out fatty foods and alcohol in a bid to improve his health.

"I was a time bomb. I produce too much cholesterol. It's a silent killer. My heart guy said, 'Look, Brad, you need to get fit,'" he shared.

"Once you know it's hereditary, you start having regular tests. Of course it's a concern."

The Breaking Dad star – who recently became a grandfather – was just launching his career when his dad died.

"I was 33 when he passed away. I'd just done The Royal Variety Show performance which helped launch my career, but my dad died from heart failure two weeks after that and never got to see it," Walsh explained.

We're sure he would be so proud of you Bradley!
