We've known him as 'The Beast' for as long as he's been famous, but Mark Labbett isn't looking very beast-like anymore ...

The 54-year-old chaser - who stands very tall at 6’ 7” - has recently lost an impressive 20kg after his health came into question during a doctors appointment.

Speaking on the UK chat show, Loose Women, Mark opened up about how his diagnosis of type 2 diabetes was the driving force behind his dramatic weight loss.

"It was the diabetes. My colleague Paul Sinha also got the diagnosis and he rapidly lost two stone and he went from being diabetic to pre or non-diabetic," Mark said.

Mark - who tipped the scales at 171kg - spoke about how he's hoping to also have lost enough weight to get out of the red zone: "I'm waiting to have my next checkup and I'm hoping that the figures are going to be better. I know that even if I'm lucky enough to now push myself to non-diabetic I've got to treat myself as if I'm diabetic from now on."

Mark also revealed that there is another heartwarming reason behind it: "I want to be around long enough to see the little man get the university degree."

So how exactly did he lost the weight?

He said: "I’m still eating very well – I'm just cutting out sugar because of the type two diabetes.

"That and running around after an active two-year-old."

Mark married his wife Katie, who is 27 years younger than him, in 2014.

They married at Arundel Cathedral in West Sussex in October and are parents to one son together, however, they are separated earlier this year amid cheating allegations.
