Baby is officially coming out of the corner ...

A sequel to the iconic 1987 film Dirty Dancing is in the works, with Jennifer Grey reprising her central role as Frances 'Baby' Houseman and also executive-producing the project.

And now we have the official release date for the film!

The as-yet-untitled sequel will be dancing into cinemas on February 8, 2024.

Like the first film, the movie will feature a young woman at the Kellerman's holiday resort who has a coming-of-age-romance, with this story intertwining with the now grown-up Baby's own journey.

The sequel will be set in the 1990s.

The soundtrack will feature fan favourites from the original film like 'Hungry Eyes', as well as '90s songs.

"The most important thing for us was having Jennifer on board," said director Jonathan Levine, who has also co-written the screenplay with Elizabeth Chomko.

"She is an invaluable collaborator. We’re going to try to involve as many people from the original as is appropriate. We want to be respectful in every way."

But one key player of course will be absent; Patrick Swayze, who played co-lead Johnny, who died of pancreatic cancer in 2009.

The original Dirty Dancing film became a worldwide phenomenon, grossing $218 million and winning an Academy Award for Best Original Song with Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' '(I've Had) The Time of My Life.'

Its first sequel, Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, was released in 2004 and grossed $38 million worldwide.
