Couple Loses 80 Pounds To Look Incredible On Their Wedding Day

It’s not unusual for a bride and groom to want to improve their health leading up to the big day, but the transformation made in the weeks leading up to this couple’s wedding is something extraordinary.

The overweight couple who were feeling "down" pledged to transform their bodies just four months before their wedding.

Paul Maddern's, 35, weight had crept up to nearly 108kg, so with his future bride Abi, 29, they decided to try and get fit together for their wedding.

With the help of their trainer they lost over 30kgs for the big day, with Abi shedding 12kgs (going from 31 per cent body fat to just under 12 per cent body fat) and Paul losing more than 22kgs (and gaining 6kgs of muscle) over the course of the couple’s 16-week health stint.

'We wanted to improve our self-confidence and do our own rehab,' said Paul.

'I didn't use to eat a lot of rubbish, but it wasn't perfect. I cut out all the sugar to start with, and was eating a lot of green vegetables and a lot of meat. No junk food, no chocolate, no alcohol,' said Abi.

The newlyweds were left unrecognisable by the health kick on their wedding day in May.

Personal trainer and nutritionist Simon Hall, who helped the couple tackle their weight problems, says it was wonderful seeing how happy they were on their wedding day.

'It was really quite emotional at the wedding as when I first met them they were really down, so it was great to see two energised, happy and lean people for their big day.'

Paul and Abi Maddern now have the confidence to enjoy beach holidays after working with a personal trainer.
