Alan Alda's acting career has spanned 50 years, but most people remember him fondly as Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce on M*A*S*H. In honour of his 80th birthday today we celebrate Alda's life and career with photos from his days on M*A*S*H through to his more recent incarnation as a spokesman of science.
