3/8 Step 1: Cut vertically all the way round the pip of the avocado.

5/8 Step 3: Remove the pip from one half of the avocado by hacking it with a knife and then twisting it.

7/8 Step 5: Instead of digging in with a spoon, peel the skin from the flesh. If the avocado is ripe, it should come off smoothly.

They are constantly hailed as a 'superfood' and a great source of healthy fats. But a new video has revealed you may not be getting all the health benefits you could from avocados. The key, it seems, is in how you remove the fruit from its skin.
Created by the American Chemical Society, experts there explain the part of an avocado with the most nutrients is the darker green part just beneath the skin.
They therefore go on to show the best way to cut and peel the fruit to get the maximum health benefit.
Peeling the avocado enables you to get as much of the rough looking portion that touches the skin as possible - and this is the incredibly healthy part.
The scientists also detail the wealth of nutrients that avocado contains.
An avocado, for instance, contains twice as much potassium - vital for good digestion and muscle function - as a banana.
It is also high in vitamins B12 and E - essential for energy and healthy skin and eyes.
And as well as containing fibre, which fills us up, the fruit contains fats that help us absorb more nutrients from other foods we eat.
The flesh also contains 11 different carotenoids - healthy compounds which help fight cancer and heart disease.
