Six-Year-Old's Lost Stuffed Tiger Goes On A Wild Airport Adventure

Losing a precious toy can be a traumatic experience for a child, so staff at a Florida airport made sure Hobbes the tiger was in good hands after he was accidentally left behind by a young traveller.

Workers at Tampa International Airport posed for photos with the stuffed toy as it was taken on a wild adventure before being returned to six-year-old Owen Lake.

The heart-warming tale gets even better, as staff gave Owen a keepsake album containing all the photos from Hobbes’ tour.

Owen became distraught when he boarded a flight to Houston with his parents and realised Hobbes was missing.

When they arrived in Texas his parents called Tampa airport’s lost and found department with an urgent plea for help, and within a short time a janitorial services crew had located Hobbes near a children’s play area in the terminal.

When Hobbes arrived at the airport operations centre, manager Tony D’Aiuto came up with the idea to take the tiger on a tour before he would be reunited with Owen.

With the help of Tampa airport police, airlines, operations staff, the United Service Organizations and others, Hobbes was photographed outside air traffic control tower, buying gelato and working out at the employee gym.

He also had time to play Jenga in the USO Welcome Center, hang out with firefighters and Southwest Airlines crew, and ride a luggage trolley and nap in a hammock by the pool at a Marriott hotel.

He was given exclusive access to areas that are off-limits to passengers, including the operations centre, where he was put to work.
