Recently, a UK student named Georgia was vacationing in Crete, Greece. The 25-year-old woman was alone on a beach when two men approached her and asked her out for a drink. That’s when the unthinkable happened.
When Georgia declined the offer, one of the men violently grabbed her arm and tried to pull her away. Then, out of nowhere, a straggly stray black dog ran up to the men and started barking furiously until they backed away and fled.
Georgia said, "she saved me. She must have noticed something was wrong. When I went back to the apartment she followed me and finally let us stroke her. We had an instant bond.”
Georgia knew this stray dog saved her life, and the two formed an immediate connection. However, Georgia was heartbroken when she had to fly back to the UK and leave her saviour, who she named Pepper, behind. "When we left to go to the airport, we looked back and Pepper was running after the car. It was heartbreaking," she says.
Back at home, Georgia couldn't stop thinking about Pepper. So, she decided to take a huge risk.
Two weeks later, Georgia was back on the island of Crete on a mission to find and adopt Pepper — but her unexpected journey was just beginning. In the end, it took Georgia five weeks, three trips back-and-forth, thousands of dollars, and a 21-day quarantine to bring Pepper back to the UK. And just when she thought her mission was complete, Pepper had another big surprise in store…
A week after arriving back in the UK with her new mum, Pepper gave birth to six tiny puppies. Pepper saved Georgia, and now Georgia saved Pepper and her babies from a life on the streets without a home or medical care.
"It has been such a crazy journey. But I am over the moon," Georgia says. "Pepper has settled in brilliantly."
What an awesome story of fate, hope, and determination!
