The Norwegian Word We All Need

On-air this morning, Toni introduced listeners to a beautiful Norwegian word that doesn’t quite have an English equivalent — kos (pronounced "koosh").

More than just a word, kos is a feeling. It’s that cosy, content, warm-hearted vibe you get when you’re curled up with a hot drink, enjoying good company, or watching the rain from inside your favourite café. It’s about slowing down, appreciating the moment, and being present.

Toni shared why the concept really resonates with her — in a busy world filled with screens, stress, and schedules, kos is a reminder to embrace the quiet joys that make life meaningful.

Whether it’s lighting a candle, taking a walk in nature, or sitting with a friend in silence, kos is the kind of energy we could all use more of.
