30 Years Ago: Take On Me

It was a pop song with a catchy chorus and singer Morten Harket’s incredible falsetto. But it was the groundbreaking pencil sketch/live-animation video which set this one apart from the others. It won six MTV Video Music Awards in 1986 – and even today it’s fun to watch.

Norwegian trio a-ha topped the charts with Take On Me 30 years ago this week. The band has released a 30th-anniversary edition of the album Hunting High and Low, and there's a new version of Take On Me too.

In addition, a-ha recently finished the South American leg of their world tour to support their 10th and latest album, Cast In Steel. They start playing Europe next March.
