40 Years Ago Today: John Walker Breaks The World Mile Record

Hard to believe - but today marks 40 years since John Walker stunned the country (and the world!) breaking the world record and recording the first sub-3:50 mile. The feat shot Walker to international stardom.
This clip shows Sir John breaking the record in Gothenburg in 1975, and also him winning the Olympic 1500m in Montreal in 1976 - another great Kiwi athletics moment.
