“I'm walking on sunshine, whoa ... And don't it feel good!”
Walking on Sunshine was written by Kimberley Rew for the British rock band Katrina and the Waves and first appeared on their 1983 album Walking on Sunshine. A re-recorded version was included on the band's 1985 self-titled album and released as its second single in April 1985.
In New Zealand, the song reached No.12 on the singles chart in 1985, becoming the band's biggest hit here. It was their first major international breakthrough and helped establish Katrina and the Waves as one of the most recognisable pop-rock acts of the decade.
More than 40 years after its release, Walking on Sunshine is still widely regarded as one of the most enduring feel-good songs of the 1980s.
