An amazing story of a single Italian man has resurfaced on the internet, which is bringing some welcomed positivity to the world.

Luca Trapanese, 43, from Naples, is a single, gay man who adopted his beautiful daughter Alba, just over 3 years ago.

Alba, who has Down's syndrome, was given up by her mother, who didn't have the means to provide appropriate care for her.

Due to Alba's condition, over 20 families passed up the opportunity to adopt the newborn. Thankfully, in stepped Luca, and their lives changed forever.

Since he was a teenager, Luca had been working and volunteering at organizations focussed on children with special needs. Luca's desire to become a father posed its own challenges in Italy at the time.

In 2017, Luca was finally given permission to adopt, under one condition.

Luca was told that he could only adopt a baby with special needs who had been previously rejected by traditional families. A fall from grace.

"Since I was 14 years old, I have volunteered and worked with the disabled so I felt I had the right knowledge and experience to do it,” Luca told media.

When Luca finally got the call, he rushed to the hospital to meet a 13-day old Alba, who would become his daughter.

'When I first held her in my arms, I was overcome with joy. I felt she was my daughter straight away.'

‘Alba and I are a family like any other,’ Luca told UNILAD.

He explained that he ‘nursed her as a mother would have done’ and ‘raised her in the best possible way’, adding: ‘I am her father and family. For me she is my daughter, I almost forget I adopted her.’

Luca continues to challenge traditional family stereotypes and is extremely proud of doing so. Luca and Alba have amassed over 230,000 followers on Instagram, as they share life's best moments with the world.

What an amazing story!
