Theatre fans will be able to experience one of Broadway’s biggest hits from the comfort of their own home from 7pm Friday 3rd July!

That’s right - Disney+ is bringing the original Broadway Production of Hamilton to their streaming service for Kiwis to enjoy.

Like us, you should be excited.

The production features the musical’s original cast, shot within The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway.

For those unfamiliar with Hamilton – written, composed, and starring Lin-Manuel Miranda (Mary Poppins Returns, Moana, In the Heights) – tells the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton, set to a genre-blended score of hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway.

The production first debuted in 2015 and in 2016 took home a slew of Tony Awards.

Earlier this week the cast of Hamilton reunited over Zoom a very special performance.

Joined by Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the rest of the cast performed a socially distant rendition of the song Helpless from the award-winning Broadway musical using household objects as instruments.

The performance was a part of the Global Goal: Unite for Our Future concert special and saw Phillipa Soo take the lead singing as Eliza Schuyler Hamilton for the romantic ditty.

In April this year cast surprised a super-fan, Aubrey, on John Krasinski’s Some Good News web-series.

Hamilton is available to stream on Disney+ (from 7pm, Friday 3 July.)
