Knitting is a fun and creative way to pass your evenings and to help you gradually wind down after a long day before it's time to sleep.

But did you know your knitting could also help premature babies, who so desperately need warmth over winter?

That's right.

Everything from beanies and cardigans to booties, it all makes a huge difference.

Knitted goods are always needed in Neonatal units across the country, but currently, Middlemore Hospital's stock is running low.

Posting to Facebook, the hospital's foundation stated they are in need of more knitted clothes for the Specialist Care Baby Unit.

So if you would like to help, get your needles out and click here to get knitting patterns for prem and full-term babies.

Wool is preferred as it is a natural fabric that breathes.

You can also contact your local DHB and see if they are in need of knitting or donations.
