If you're a fan of Netflix’s swoon-worthy series Virgin River we've got some exciting news for you ...

It's officially coming back for a THIRD season!

That's right, the romantic drama – based on the best-selling book series by Robyn Carter - is coming back for its third season and we can't wait to dive in!

The exciting news was announced by the stars of the show, Alexandra Breckenridge and New Zealand’s own heartthrob, Martin Henderson - who you may recognise from Shortland Street, Bride and Prejudice, and of course, Grey’s Anatomy.

"We just wanna say a huge thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for making season two such a big success for Virgin River," Martain said in a video clip. "

And because of that ..."

"Season three has been picked up by Netflix!" Alexandra added.

Virgin River follows nurse practitioner Melinda (Breckenridge) who moves from LA to the small town of Virgin River to escape her painful past.

There she meets the charming Jack (Henderson), the owner of the local bar, and a former Marine. However, Mel’s transition to small-town living doesn’t go as smoothly as she expected and it’s not long until drama - and romance - ensues.

The second season - which came out in November - delved into even more drama after the first season's shocking season finale!

"Engagement. Babies. Heartbreak. Murder. For a small town, Virgin River has its fair share of drama — and Mel Monroe is often in the middle of it," Netflix describes the second season.

Virgin River also stars Vampire Diaries actor Daniel Gillies - who also happens to be a Kiwi - Smallville star Annette O’Toole and The West Wing's Tim Matheson.

The first and second season of Virgin River is available to stream on Netflix now and we can't wait for the third seasons release!
