20th Century Studios has just released the official trailer for Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, the highly anticipated biopic chronicling the creation of Bruce Springsteen’s haunting 1982 album Nebraska.

The film hits cinemas across New Zealand on October 23, and early buzz is already strong. Following its debut at the Telluride Film Festival, it holds a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by Scott Cooper and starring Jeremy Allen White (The Bear) as Springsteen, the film dives deep into a pivotal moment in the music legend’s life. Nebraska was recorded on a simple 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom, capturing raw, introspective stories of lost souls and quiet desperation. It’s widely considered one of his most personal and enduring works.

"This film takes a couple years out of my life and looks at them very closely, a time when I made ‘Nebraska’ and went through some personal difficulties,” says Springsteen. “I’m so appreciative of Jeremy Allen White and the entire cast for their wonderful and moving performances—and Scott Cooper, one of the most generous collaborators I’ve ever worked with."

The cast also includes:

  • Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau (Springsteen’s manager)
  • Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan
  • Odessa Young, Stephen Graham, Gaby Hoffman, and David Krumholtz in supporting roles

Based on Warren Zanes’ book of the same name, the film promises to be a powerful exploration of artistry, vulnerability, and the courage to turn inward when the world expects you to go big.

With an original score by Jeremiah Fraites (The Lumineers), and stunning cinematography by Masanobu Takayanagi, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere is shaping up to be a must-see for fans of music, film, and storytelling.

In New Zealand cinemas, October 23.
