The formula for the perfect piece of toast has now be revealed - and it involves toasting the bread for two minutes eight seconds and then leaving it to stand for 22 seconds before buttering.

Toasting for 128 seconds is apparently perfect for getting the most desirable 'slightly golden' colour.
