Rugby-mad fans get excited ...

Following in the footsteps of former teammate Riche McCaw, Dan Carter is set to release his own documentary movie - and we have just had our first look at the film's trailer!

Dan Carter: A Perfect 10 is slated to be an "all-access" look into the former All Black legend's private life, promising to reveal a side of the star which "has never been seen before".

It follows Carter's career journey all the way from rural New Zealand to his time as "the greatest number 10 of all time."

Alongside interviews with fellow rugby stars like Richie McCaw, Jonny Wilkinson and Beauden Barrett, as well as Carter's wife Honor and the rest of their family, the film will also show the dark side of fame.

At one point Carter can be heard admitting: "I'd go back to my hotel room and I'd be broken - I just had tears coming down my face."

Dan Carter: A Perfect 10 is set to be released in New Zealand on August 29.
