A 2-year-old child was captured on CCTV cameras as she casually left her home and headed to a convenience store at a gas station in Detroit at 11 p.m. at night.

Apparently, this child really wanted candy, as the small girl visits the convenience store alone. Dressed warmly in a padded blue jacket with the hood over her head, she decided to leave home at 11 p.m. at night.

She first crossed a busy road in total darkness, then headed into the convenience store. At this stage, she was caught on the CCTV camera entering the store.

The New York Daily News quotes Mohamad Bazzi, the owner of the Citgo store in Highland Park, Michigan, as saying the small girl visits the convenience store alone and then just strolls up to the counter, puts two pennies down, and asks for candy.

Bazzi said she then started walking around this aisle and that aisle, trying to decide what she wanted. Bazzi then thought it prudent to lock the girl safely in the store’s back room and call the police.

Bazzi told Inside Edition, “I told her ‘listen, there’s a little baby inside the store alone’,” and the police arrived within minutes.

When the police came, they took the young girl to the station.

As it turns out, the parents had not noticed their child leaving the apartment.

The parents immediately faced an ear-bashing from the police officers for not keeping a proper eye on their child and allowing her to sneak out like that.

Hopefully, lessons have been learned and the parents will keep a more watchful eye to prevent the small girl visiting the convenience store alone at night in the future.
