ABBA fans worldwide were over the moon earlier this month when the Swedish superstars reunited for their first new album in 40 years.

However, sadly, the album marks the beginning of the end for the group, rather than a new chapter.

Speaking to The Guardian about the band's reunion and upcoming album Voyage, both Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson said that the group was effectively over once more.

Andersson said: "This is it. It's got to be, you know. I didn't actually say that 'this is it' in 1982.

"I never said myself that ABBA was never going to happen again. But I can tell you now: this is it."

To which Ulvaeus agreed: "Yeah."

Their remarks echo bandmate Agnetha Fältskog's comments earlier this month.

She said: "We're a bit older now and have our minor ailments. We struggle on. But I don't dare say, because it's a bit uncertain."

Fans had been eagerly awaiting new music from the group since they revealed they had recorded new songs in 2018.

The forthcoming album Voyage is set to be released on November 5.

The group went their separate ways in 1982 at the height of their career.

They performed together for the first time in decades in 2016 at a private event, which marked the 50th anniversary of the first meeting between songwriters Björn and Benny.
