Fans who attended ABBA's Voyage show in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Thursday night were given an extra special treat when they got to see the lead singer of their favourite band in person.

Anni-Frid Lyngstad stunned fans when she showed up as an audience member during the group's revolutionary digital concert.

Following the show – which sees virtual 'ABBAtars' presenting the group as they were in the '70s performing with a 10-piece live band – her attendance was announced to the shocked crowd.

Speaking over the PA, a voice said: "You have been in the presence this evening of Frida, who sends her best wishes to you all."

As several members of the crowd spotted the singer waving from her seat, the audience began cheering when they realised they were staring at the real thing.

It wasn't the first time Lyngstad has been at one of her cover concerts.

Earlier this year, Lyngstad, Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus reunited for the groundbreaking concert residency making their first public appearance together in 36 years.

The ABBA Voyage concert series comes after the Swedish supergroup released their first album in 40 years, also named Voyage
