Now this is one impressive American Idol audition!

Trying out for the long-running talent show, Tyson Venegas wowed the judges and viewers with his incredible rendition of Billy Joel's 'New York State of Mind.'

Unsurprisingly, the 17-year-old received a standing ovation from Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan and also nabbed the first Platinum Ticket of the season, which allows contestants to bypass the first round of Hollywood Week.

Following the performance, Richie asked the teen from Vancouver to bring his mother into the room. He then joked with her saying: "He’s claiming to be 17 years old but he’s performing like a 45-year-old. Give me some validation here."

To which mum Iris replied: "One of his very first concerts was Lionel Richie. He was inspired by you and that’s where he learned to sing from his heart and tell stories."

Lionel responded: "We’ve flipped the switch. I inspired him back then; he just inspired us today. Let me tell you, that performance was spot on professional."

While Bryan told his fellow judges: "He may be one of our most gifted yet."

We can't wait to see more from him!
