After winning gold in the Rugby Sevens at the Olympics on Saturday night, the Black Ferns Sevens returned to an empty Tokyo Stadium to perform a spine-tingling haka.

After receiving their medals following their 26-12 win over France, the team laid down the gold in front of them before performing the emotional haka.

Veteran Portia Woodman led the haka while France and bronze medallists Fiji watched on.

The Black Ferns Sevens ended in their world-renowned formation with inspirational captain Sarah Hirini at the front on one knee.

Following the moving haka, Hirini told Sky Sports she was dedicating the moment to her late mum who died earlier this year.

"I love you mum, I miss you," she said through tears.

So proud of our girls!
