Brenda Lee's Christmas classic 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' has just shattered the record for the longest wait from a song's release to hitting number 1 on the Hot 100!

The song surpassed Mariah Carey's 'All I Want for Christmas Is You' 25-year gap - released in 1994 and reaching number 1 in 2019.

Brenda Lee recorded the vocals for 'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' when she was only 13 years old, and it was released in 1958 however it wouldn't become a hit until the December 12 charts in 1960 (charting at number 14), meaning it has taken 63 years to reach number 1.

She also has broken the record for the oldest artist in history to score a new number 1 single on the Hot 100!

'Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree' was written by Johnny Marks - the same songwriter who also wrote 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer', 'I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day' and more classic Christmas hits.

To celebrate the single's 65-year anniversary this year, Brenda Lee released a music video for the classic as part of a new five-track digital EP, 'A Rockin' Christmas.'
