While it has been over 50 years since we were introduced to one of the most iconic songs in soft rock history, vintage footage from 1970 has revealed to fans the very first moment Elton John ever performed 'Tiny Dancer.'

Currently going viral on Twitter, the Rocket Man can be seen sitting at his piano as he effortlessly croons the track just days after Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics.

Before belting out the song, John explains that he "fancied" writing the song because Bernie had written the lyrics about his girlfriend.

He then explains why he felt the song needed to be "slow."

Released on John's fourth album, Madman Across the Water, the 1972 song was also ranked number 47 on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
