The cast and crew of Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time have received a special Kiwi welcome in the form of a beautiful powhiri and karakia in the South Island.

Posting on Instagram, director Ava DuVernay shared a snap of the group enjoying the greeting with the caption:

“Welcomed with a Powhiri. Blessed with a Karakia. United with a Haka. Grateful to the Maori people, Tangata Whenua, for receiving us so warmly. Thank you! #WrinkleinTime”

In the snap you can see Reese Witherspoon (obviously over her jetlag) pulling a love-shaped finger sign and behind her Oprah Winfrey is grinning ear to ear.

Mindy Kaling is looking sassy and sophisticated in a striped cropped jacket on the side too.

The cast and crew look ready and set to start shooting their New Zealand scenes, which are expected to wrap later this week.

Ava even posted a fun video of Mindy, Reese and Oprah on the film’s Instagram page.

“Ok ladies, you get in there. Ok what’s the name of this movie? 1, 2, 3 … A Wrinkle In Time!
