The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have brought some joy to a Wales rest home after they hosted a virtual bingo night with the elderly residents.

Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff frequently has bingo nights but none as special as last week's game.

Using Zoom, the royal couple called out numbers for a round of virtual bingo as they checked in with the isolated seniors and their dedicated workers.

Posting a clip from the bingo night to social media, Kate Middleton and Prince William wrote: "And your next Bingo callers are…

"Visit our YouTube page to see more as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thanked staff at Shire Hall Care Home in Cardiff, and care workers across the UK for their tireless efforts as they continue to look after the most vulnerable in our society."

However, it seems not everyone was impressed with the couple's bingo skills.

Buzz Bingo - which operates the bingo club - received a tongue-in-cheek complaint from one resident.

Following the virtual round, the company said: "We're delighted to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge engaging in a spot of Zoom bingo with residents of the Shire Hall Care Home, in Cardiff. The game is great for keeping the mind nimble and virtually socialising during these times.

"As Ms Joan Drew Smith did comment, the bingo calling 'wasn't as good as it should have been!' so we'd love to offer training and guidance for future bingo calls from our fantastic team at Buzz, we're more than happy to lend a hand."

Somehow we think William knew they could have done a better job, as he promised to work on their bingo calls for their next game.

He told the residents: "We'll say a big thank you and goodbye to everybody, and we'll try and do a bit better at bingo next time!"

For this game of bingo, we everyone was a winner.
