While the Cambridge children remain in lockdown amidst the current pandemic, Kate Middleton has revealed her youngest son is struggling to understand social distancing ... but for the cutest reason.

During a rare interview with BBC's Breakfast, the Duchess of Cambridge opened up about coping with the restrictions during the global pandemic as part of the launch of the BBC's brand-new digital resource Tiny Happy People.

In the interview, the mother-of-three said Prince Louis struggles to understand why he can't "cuddle everything" as he loves to hug everyone he meets.

"Louis doesn't understand social distancing," Kate said of the two-year-old.

"He goes out wanting to cuddle anything, particularly any babies younger than him."

Kate also remarked on Louis's ability to run at speed, saying: "He's now taken to running everywhere.

"You put Louis down and he's off."

Tiny Happy People features free activity and play ideas for 0-4-year-olds and is aimed at developing children's communication and language skills.

Kate - who is also mum to Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, five - described the resource as "gold dust" for parents and said she wished she had had access to the tips and tools available as a first-time mother.

The Duchess has been working behind-the-scenes on the broadcaster's education initiative, secretly visiting Broadcasting House last November to work on some of the video resources.
