Three new photos of Princess Charlotte have been released to mark her fourth birthday - and she is gorgeous!

While the world still awaits news of the arrival Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first baby, today is all about Princess Charlotte!

In celebration of the young royal's fourth birthday today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released three new portraits of their only daughter - and she is one gorgeous little girl.

The sweet snaps show the little princess playing in the grass and flashing adorable smiles at the camera.

According to the royal's official Instagram account, the photos - which were shot by Kate Middleton - were taken in April in the grounds of the Cambridge's Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.

Dressed in a floral blue dress with a peter pan collar and navy sneakers, the birthday girl is giving us major flashbacks to Prince William at the same age.

This year's birthday portrait of Charlotte is particularly exciting because William and Kate didn't release a new photo for her third birthday, breaking a longstanding tradition.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share three new photographs of Princess Charlotte ahead of her fourth birthday tomorrow," reads a statement from Kensington Palace, which was released alongside the photos on social media.

This is a very special year for Charlotte, who will start school in September. The little girl currently attends Willcocks Nursery, which is close to the family's home in Kensington Palace.

It is thought that Charlotte will join her big brother at Thomas's Battersea in London, but they may also decide to send Charlotte to a different school based on her own needs and personality.
