Acting legend Tom Hanks has shared pictures of the plasma he donated, as scientists look to develop coronavirus vaccine.

Having recovered from the virus last month, Hanks, 63, and wife Rita Wilson, 63, vowed to do whatever they can to contribute to virus research.

Their opportunity came with a donation of blood and plasma, which Hanks posted photos to social media.

“Here’s last week’s bag of plasma. Such a bag!” he wrote on social media. “After the paperwork, it’s as easy as taking a nap. Thanks @arimoin and UCLA. Hanx.”

Hanks was one of the first celebrities to be diagnosed with Covid-19, which he caught in Australia whilst filming the now delayed Elvis Presley biopic, directed by Baz Luhrmann.
